About Me

First off, I'd like to thank you for checking out my page! I began this blog in February 2012 as a way to discuss my weight loss journey, recipes, fitness tips as well as any topic relevant to the health, nutrition, and fitness fields.

My weight loss journey began in April 2010 when I was at my heaviest weighing-in at an alarming 261 lbs.  For a person who's 5'8 this meant my Body Mass Index (BMI) was 39.7 categorizing me as obese, only a few pounds shy of falling into the morbidly obese category.  Unhappy with myself, I knew I had to make a drastic change in my lifestyle and eating habits otherwise I'd be heading down the fastline to handful of chronic health conditions as well as a poorer quality of life.  Following a high micronutrient diet as well as dedicated exercise plan I was able to lose 92 lbs (and still going!) in 9 months.  This experience truly has changed my life and with each pound lost has freed me from the overweight, insecure, unhappy, and out-of-shape person I used to be.  Currently, I am studying to become a Certified Personal Trainer through The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and I hope to inspire anyone that is either struggling with their weight and/or just simply aiming to live an overall healthier lifestyle!
